Prolog

Coffee:

  • Prolog – I love the Østerbro location, and their hot chocolate is unreal

  • La Cabra – my favorite coffee shop, probably ever. Best matcha, coffee, and a great cardamom bun. The new Nordhavn location is stunning

  • April – an exceptional coffee experience for those who appreciate coffee, go to enjoy the experience not to get a quick coffee to go

  • Lokal – small cozy spot with a beautiful interior

  • Orsa – fun spot + good drinks, also the banana bread was amazing

  • Coffee Collective – a good spot to work remote from or grab a coffee to go, they have multiple locals around the city, you can skip the pastries though

  • Noma Projects – a fun way to experience Noma, they allow you to try all of their products in a complimentary tasting while you wait for your coffee

April

Juno

Bakeries:

  • Juno – best cardamom bun + bakery in the city IMO, worth the line

  • Lille Bakery – a bit of trek but most definitely worth it! Definitely try the Blomster Bun they are known for

  • Kani – The most unique flavors – especially loved the pretzel croissnat. And iced chai with a cardamom cold foam!

  • Apotek 57 – a creative rotating selection of pastries, I had a coffee cream filled cardamom bun as well as a miso caramel croissant that are some of my top pastries I’ve had

  • Sinne Gas – tiny local bakery spot tucked away by the lakes in Østerbro, grab pastries to-go for a walk!

  • Riviera – a lovely selection of pastries + good brunch options

  • Hart – they are known for the cardamom croissant and have locations all over the city. Insider tip they also sell their sourdough loaves as a half!

  • Bageriet B – fun lowkey local spot

  • Andersen & Maillard– Get the chocolate chip cookie! Also a great BMO

Treats:

  • Dillon – My favoriteee ice cream spot with amazing flavors like brown butter and olive oil sea salt, and the homemade vanilla cone is incredible

  • Aurora – Great location on Papiøren to sit by the water. Hojicha ice cream!

  • Ismageriet – A well-known ice cream spot that is pretty good, and a few locations around the city

  • Get Danish candy at most grocery stores (Super Brugsen, etc)

Apotek 57

Brunch:

  • Apotek 57 – my favorite breakfast plate and very chic spot, also amazing pastry selection. The savory waffle is also divine!

  • Alle Tiders – one of my top favorite spots in all of CPH – the pancakes are perfect, and go back for lunch!

  • Amator – The coziest neighborhood spot known for their “sexy omelette” and the complimentary sourdough and olive oil was unreal. Make a reservation if you want to sit inside!

  • Studio x Kitchen – Absolutely incredible folded eggs (I love the ‘nduja butter ones) + homemade focaccia

  • Bar Moro – A very cute all day café (and great dinner + wine)

  • Dallas – I think often about the overnight oats bowl. Truly divine.

  • Kismet – A casual spot for a quick affordable breakfast plate or porridge!

  • Atelier September – A rather touristy spot but still good. Great breakfast plate, omelette, and seasonal pancakes. I prefer the locations in Frederiksberg or Nordhavn to avoid the line.

  • Cabin – A very cozy café in City Centre by a previous chef from Noma and owner of Bar Vitrine. Get the baked to order chocolate chip cookie!!

  • Sonny – cute location in Frederiksburg! The yuzu pancakes were delicious

  • Lagoni + Co. – bagels!!

  • Flere Fugle – lovely + spacious off the beaten path brunch + all day café

  • Lido – A café by the same owners as Apotek 57 + Riviera, and it is very cozy and friendly. If they have the plum jam cardamom bun get it!!

Amator

Bar Moro

Lunch:

  • Alle Tiders – my favorite lunch spot! They have a set lunch menu for 100dkk (about $15) and it is mostly vegetable based and the meal and space is so hygge! Definietly add on the focaccia and whipped butter. Also a great spot to work remote from

  • Fabro – Another must go! Affordable amazing pasta and very cozy small spot. Late lunch is perfect, otherwise there is often a line.

  • Poulette – famous spicy chicken sandwich and worth the hype. Go early in the day as they are known to sell out

  • Auren’s Deli – very cozy + fresh ingredients lunch spot, and they also have a Cornerstore Market down the block with amazing to-go sandwiches

  • Locale 21 – delicious Italian lunch set menu in the heart of city center

  • Comé Rice Kitchen – amazing onigiri in the meatpacking district

Cleo

Dinner:

  • Cleo – My FAVORITE meal of the trip hands down. A 8 course set menu for pretty affordable and every single dish was exceptional. I would say this is a must go!

  • Margo – very chic and cozy traditional Italian spot

  • Oberra – I recommend the 5 course set menu for 275dkk (about $40), all pescatarian!

  • Slurp Ramen – delicious ramen and vibey spot, especially on a rainy day

  • Palazzo Diner – make a reservation for The Pasta Club! You can get three courses (starter, pasta, + dessert) for 199dkk (around $30)

  • Corsa Pizza– Good classic pizza + wine when you want an affordable dinner. Also nice to Nordhavn!

  • Bar La Una– A perfect spot to sit outside on the sidewalk with wine + Italian food

  • Bevi Bevi – Next door to Bar La Una and same owners, and a great set menu for affordable!

Pompette

Drink:

  • Bird – creative cocktails + vinyl listening bar, I like the location in city center

  • Bar Vitrine – small wine bar with amazing small bites, featuring one of the past chefs from Noma

  • Bottega Barlie – lovely spot for a glass of wine and share plates

  • Laban – Cozy wine bar in Vesterbrø

  • Bar Moro – Food, cocktails, + wine, and a cozy vibe

  • Aben – If you like beer, I like the location in Nordhavn

  • Apollo – A fun spot to sit outdoors for an aperitif near Nyhavn. Get the soft serve too!

  • Pompette – vibey natural wine bar (and go to their sister restaurant Poulette next door for a spicy chicken sandwich!)

Bird

Musuems:

  • Louisiana Museum – a 40 min train outside of the city and so so worth it. Get a coffee + pastry on the way and walk around the sculptural garden before seeing the inside

  • Designmuseum – if you appreciate design this is a must

  • Glypoteket – jawdropping museum with tons of greek + roman sculptures, some french paintings, and currently also has a behind the scenes exhibition on Edgar Degas’ famous dancers that was fascinating

  • Copenhagen Contemporary – has a stunning exhibit by James Turrell “Aftershock”

The Lakes

Parks:

  • Frederiksberg Garden – stunning place to walk or picnic, there is also a spot you can see the elephants from the CPH Zoo!

  • The Lakes – my favorite spot to walk and see the swans. If your’e looking for a kitschy activity rent a swan boat for $20 lol

  • King’s Garden – perfect park in the heart of city center

  • Botanical Garden – another beautiful park to walk or picnic

  • Ørstedsparken – ditto above

Shop:

  • Ganni Postmodern – The Ganni “outlet” with heavily discounted items!

  • Boii Studios – Cozy + cute Copenagen fashion at very reasonable prices

  • Frama – lovely scents, stop in to their design cafe next door, Apotek 57

  • Stoy – incredibly chic store + curation of men + women clothing

  • Tekla – the towels + linens of your dreams

  • New Mags – lovely bookstore

  • Naked – the most amazing shoe store

  • Pico – cute jewelry + accessories, good gifts

  • Louise Roe – a stunning showroom that also features a cute cafe called The Roe Bar

  • Ferm Living – beautiful showroom and garden in the exterior

  • Noma Projects – a delightful tasting experience and fun goodies if you are into food!

  • Illum Mall – insane mall with every designer brand you can want plus a Muji on the top floor

  • Studio Arhoj Study– CPH made ceramics + more and you can watch them do glass blowing. The location on Nørregade has an analog photobooth!

HAY House

Activities:

  • La Banchina in the summertime for a swim + wine!!! Absolute must

  • See a ballet at Operaen

  • Reffen street food market

  • Tivoli Gardens amusment park – the second oldest amusement park and it inspired Disneyland! It’s about $30 to enter and you can pay per ride, or about $70 for all inclusive ticket. Fun to see for either Halloween or Christmas decorations!

  • Swim at Sandkaj in Nordhavn

  • Eat a BMO (stands for “Bolle med ost”, i.e. bun with butter and cheese in Danish – it’s a classic and a must eat)

  • Eat a Danish hotdog – you honestly can’t go wrong at the hot dog carts around the city

  • Analog Photobooth at Studio Arhoj Study (on Nørregade) or Naked Shoes

  • Nyhavn (of course!) to see the famous colored townhouses on the canal
